Materials:
- Bottle with a narrow neck (Ketchup Bottle)
- Large container for the ketchup bottle to put in
- One Balloon (deflated)
- Hot water

RESULTS
As the balloon was placed in the container with hot water, it slowly inflated and got bigger. When the balloon was placed on top of the table, after it was immersed in hot water, it started to deflate and got smaller.
DISCUSSION
The balloon (in deflated state) was placed on the mouth of the bottle with narrow neck. It was made sure that there is no air inside the balloon. Afterwards, the large container was filled with hot water. Then the bottle with the balloon on its mouth was immersed slowly into the container with hot water. As the balloon was immersed, it was observed for a few minutes. Eventually, the balloon slowly appeared partially inflated. This is because of the hot air from the hot water rising to the balloon. As you can see from the picture above, heated air also expands. So as the air traveled to the balloon, the heated air expanded inside the balloon, causing it to inflate. After the inflation, the bottle was put out of the container and was placed on top of the table. The balloon placed in its mouth slowly deflated because there is not enough hot air that continuously inflate it. Also, the air inside the balloon contracted causing it to deflate.
CONCLUSION
Therefore, I conclude that the inflation of the balloon was caused by the hot air from the hot water. This is because hot air rises and heated air expands, the balloon inflated. When the bottle with the balloon on its mouth was placed on top of the table, the balloon slowly deflated. Reason for this is that as the bottle was carried out from the container with hot water, the hot air from the hot water slowly cooled down and as the air cooled down it contracted and sunk, then the balloon slowly deflated.
